Hazariprasad Dwivedi
'Acharya' Hazariprasad Dwivedi (1907 - 1979) was a Hindi novelist, literary
historian, essayist, critic and scholar. He penned numerous novels, collections
of essays and a historical outline of Hindi literature.
Early life
Acharya was born in Dube ka Chhapra, a village in the Ballia district of Uttar
Pradesh. He passed the "Shastri" examination at Sanskrit University and was
later appointed as a Hindi instructor at Santiniketan. He later became professor
and head of Hindi Departments at Banaras Hindu University and Panjab University,
Chandigarh. He was also associated with Hindi related programmes of the Indian
Government."Banbhatta Ki Atmakatha","Anamdas Ka Potha","Punarnava",and "Charuchandra
Lekh" are his master works.He was also a great hindi eassy writer.some of his
memorable eassys are "Nakhoon Kyon Barhte Hain","Kutaj" and "Ashok ke phool".
